AD: Absolut Spells a Story
Absolut Vodka, six artists and director Rupert Sanders (along with ad agency TBWA Chiat Day, NY) got together to each create a three dimensional world in which the Absolut Vodka brand philosophy that ‘Doing Things Differently Leads To Something Exceptional’ is literally spelled out, one word at a time in different materials and environments.

FASHION: CheckYouDaily.com
Last week on my Twitter feed, I was followed by someone named “The Moderator” from CheckYouDaily. I had no idea who this was so I clicked through to see who they were and discovered this website:
CHECK|YOUdaily is a private online network where members can upload what they are wearing, tag it, archive it, and share with their friends or keep a private style journal (essentially it’s The Satorialist in a social networking format). THE PORTAL is the website’s editorial section which is open to the public. Watch the video for more…
I just applied for a log-in. I’ll keep you posted on whether or not I’m accepted and what I experience “on the inside.”
Hopefully it will be worth it…
INTERACTIVE VIDEO: Cold War Kids
There seems to be a trend beginning in interactive videos… this is the second time in the last few weeks I’ve heard about a group of videos that can be turned on and off “at-will” by the user to create their own edit of footage. It’s a great idea… Read more
FASHION: The Satorialist

In case you’ve been living under a rock, The Satorialist is THE blog to go if you’re looking for what styles are being worn on-the-street TODAY in NYC, Milan, Paris, and anywhere else great fashion can be found. What sets this site apart is that the photos are not “fashion shoots” in the traditional sense, but instead editor, Scott Schuman, just goes to the street and takes photos of people he thinks look really great.
The concept has recently taken a step further into video interviews on street corners providing a light into the minds of “great stylists” and why they choose what they do.
This is a great place to go if you’re tired of your current wardrobe and are looking for a change but don’t have that “new look” in mind yet.
ARTIST: Steve Hickok

Today I had the pleasure of being introduced to Atlanta-based artist Steve Hickok. Despite being a visual artist myself, I don’t often find work that immediately illicits the responce: “I want THAT on my wall.” … but that’s exactly what happened when I saw Steve’s work.
As a direct descendent of the famous “Wild Bill Hickok,” Steve’s family name has been a Western legacy for generations. A true Arizona native, Steve was born in Phoenix where he developed an affection for his natural surroundings which he combined with his artistic talent.
Combining a variety of techniques, Steve approaches each square as if it already has its own personality. Painted outside to weather in the sun, scratched or sanded by the street, or left in the storm to be washed by rain, a myriad of emotions envelop Steve’s work. Over the last few years Steve has photographed over 10,000 images from different parts of the world, which he incorporates into his squares.
Steve’s latest series, “Stories and Squares,” uses the handprints of children adopted by friends and family. Visit SteveHickok.com to view this series along with his other work.
